WELCOME

Welcome to the Urban Culture course at Avila University created by Susan Lawlor and Dotty Hamilton.  We travel with our students to great cities to explore art museums, engage with the architecture, study the local film and music venues, and experience the ethnic enclaves as a way to learn about the culture of urban spaces and the interaction of art and environment.  It's a fun, intense learning environment.

  2. Even though this was not a part of our scheduled tour, Troy and I thought it was important to stop and feed the pigeons. Little did we know that they would bring brothers, sisters, cousins, and neighbors. This snacker bit me, and then later on during the food tour, this same pigeon smacked me upside my head, apparently seeking more snacks. Just glad the flock didn't bomb us from the air.

    2. This was the best picture of the whole trip seeing birds swarm Garrett was pretty funny. Seeing the bean was also awesome it was much bigger than I imagined. Had a ton of fun and learned a lot on the self guided tour!- Nick

  3. Im not going to lie I think the tour of Millennium Park was really fun. Feeding the birds was not only interested but it was amazing to see how many strangers came up to us asking for some crackers so that they could feed the birds too. As Garrett said though we did get lucky to not get bombed from the air!!

  4. I definitely enjoyed feeding the pigeons with troy and Garrett, it was especially funny when Garrett got all scared because one of the birds bit him and freaked out. The park tour was one of the best things we did on the trip, seeing the bean and everyone's reflections in the bean so clearly was pretty cool.
