WELCOME

Welcome to the Urban Culture course at Avila University created by Susan Lawlor and Dotty Hamilton.  We travel with our students to great cities to explore art museums, engage with the architecture, study the local film and music venues, and experience the ethnic enclaves as a way to learn about the culture of urban spaces and the interaction of art and environment.  It's a fun, intense learning environment.

  1. The cicus was something that I really enjoyed. I was amazed with how entertaining the show was. This was my favorite thing about the trip. The show was so entertaining and told the story so well, I was able to understand it even though it was in French! Very very cool to see all of the tricks everyone could do and the amazing lights and colors in the show. I would reccommend this to anyone and everyone. Very happy and pleased with this trip.

  2. This was probably one of my favorite activities we were able to do. The show was extremely entertaining, and the performers were able to bring the story to life in an interesting way that kept you on the edge of your seat. It was clear that it took years of practice and dedication to make this amazing show possible. If I get the chance to see the show again, I will definitely go!

  4. This was probably my most memorable activity. I have always wanted to see Circus du Soleil since I was little. I really loved all of the colorful costumes that the performers were wearing and the story that they told. The most challenging part of this activity was that the whole performance was in French. I didn't feel that it really took away from it much though, since it's mostly a visual performance. I definitely hope to see another performance again some day.
