WELCOME

Welcome to the Urban Culture course at Avila University created by Susan Lawlor and Dotty Hamilton.  We travel with our students to great cities to explore art museums, engage with the architecture, study the local film and music venues, and experience the ethnic enclaves as a way to learn about the culture of urban spaces and the interaction of art and environment.  It's a fun, intense learning environment.

Breakfast cruise

We started this beautiful sunny day with a boat trip down the river

  1. Out of all of our visits, the breakfast cruise was by far my most favorite. Viewing Montreal from the river was breath-taking. The fruit, the sausage, and the crepe was delicious! Bryce made our table chuckle when he said to the Frenchman, "Excuse me- you call this a grape, and the Frenchman replied , "No a crepe." The Jean Drapeau Park was beautiful. We floated past the Biosphere that looked like a massive dome. The tour guide was very informative. It was a peaceful way to enjoy Montreal.-Garrett D.

  3. The breakfast tour was a very simple way to enjoy Montreal from another perspective. Seeing landmarks and hearing more history about Montreal was great. It helped the weather was absolutely beautiful making it a really relaxing activity. This, along with the bike ride that followed were two of my favorite activities. They allowed me to appreciate the natural beauty of Montreal.
